Capital Gaming Expo Garage Sale Photos

So this is the first time I do a photo shoot for charity – man that was fun. Hope I can do it again soon.

The 501st Capital City Garrison was on hand at the Capital Gaming Expo‘s garage sale to raise money for Tysen’s Mission To A Million – and took some photos of Tysen himself, receiving his Yoda outfit.

We took shots of anyone who wanted to pose with Darth Vader, Supergirl, Elsa, Captain America and Temari (I could be wrong about Temari – I am no Naruto expert).

2015 Ottawa Geek Market

Had a TON of fun at the Spring Geek Market… can’t wait until the next one! Click on the links below for access to the photos taken at this event.

Our new service, printing 4×6 photos, was a huge hit. We had Cinderella and Cruella in our booth on the week-end (cosplayed by the talented and beautiful Sara Hunter) – kids were very happy (Cinderella) and/or terrified (Cruella) to pose for a printed photo.

Dark Fairytale

Cosplayers are a different kind of bunch. They get all fired up when they think of a theme, get dressed up, and head out to do a fairly impromptu photoshoot. In this case, we planned to go to Mackenzie King Estate, north of Ottawa in a small town called Chelsea, Québec. This is the country home of one of Canada’s former prime ministers, and it’s open to the public for most of the warm months of the year.

We went up on the Sunday of Canadian Thanksgiving, which we do in October because November would be just silly. What follows is an account of what went down on that day.

Fall 2014 Ottawa Geek Market!

A small local geekfest – vendors and panels and cosplayers oh my! I walked the exhibit hall, armed with my trusty Canon 6D and a light and umbrella on a pole. It was interesting getting used to one light, particularly for multiple subjects. I think I got a few good pics.

The images are on Dropbox and on Facebook as well. Note that as of this writing, the files are still uploading and may not be done for a couple of hours. Thanks Bell internet!

If you like these one-light quick pics, come to my booth (Open Shutter) at Pop Expo in November, and for a small fee, we’ll shoot some shots with multiple lights, reflectors, a large screen to preview your images, and a backdrop.

Ottawa Geek Market, Winter 2014

Went to the Geek Market at the Nepean Sportsplex, and shot a few quick snaps in the aisles. It was dark in there, and I wanted to give my 14mm wide lens a workout.
